Ein Retell von Aschenbrödel, und doch so viel mehr... Eine tolle Geschichte, an manchen Stellen etwas vorhersehbar aber spannend erzählt. Macht wirklich Spaß! ( )

This is one of those series I read in high school (?) and remember loving so much. The way the story rewrites the Cinderella narrative in a creative and interesting way. Rereading the series I was able to catch little parts and pieces of foreshadowing I never caught onto before and it made the read more meaningful to me. I was able to be interested in other characters other than just Cinder and Kai (while they still are important) during the reread. In all honesty, I think I like Cinder in the other books better than I like her in this book, but I think that comes from knowing how she develops. In the grande scheme of things I don’t think this is my favorite of the series, but I do think that this story specifically still holds a special place in my heart and I really loved rereading it. The first time I sat down to read this book, I stopped a few chapters in and put it away. The plot seemed too obvious and the characters too flat. I picked it back up a few weeks later and enjoyed it much more. It's still a pretty simple book and the supposed plot twist was obvious from miles away; the characters don't have much of an arc and the love story is pretty bland, but despite all that it was an entertaining read. If you're looking for something deep and thought provoking, this isn't your book. But if you'd like something that's fun and a quick, easy read, this is a good choice. ( )

I haven't read any adaptations that I can remember at the moment, but even if I did, this would be the best one. All I can say is-Wow.

Every element of the classic story was there and even though I could see what was going to happen, it was delivered so well that I didn't care. Some would say that the ending was a cliffhanger. Being that the series is continuing, I feel more like it was 'chapter' to the story and didn't feel like a cliffhanger (which you know I hate with the heat of 1000 suns).

I purchased the 2nd ebook in the series, [b:Scarlet|13206760|Scarlet (Lunar Chronicles, #2)|Marissa Meyer|https://d202m5krfqbpi5.cloudfront.net/books/1342485529s/13206760.jpg|18390691], along with the audiobook version, before I was even halfway done with this one.

I highly recommend this series, even if sci-fi is not your normal genre, I am labeling it as scifi, but it didn't (IMO) 'read' like scifi. Great book and I can't wait for more from Ms. Meyer.

Cinder by Marissa Meyer
The Lunar Chronicles series #1. Retelling. New adult science fiction. Cliffhanger.
Cinder lives in the city of New Beijing with her stepmother and stepsisters. Cinder is the breadwinner as a Licensed Mechanic. Cinder is also a cyborg, part human with elements of mechanical pieces added to her body. This makes her a second class citizen and owned by her stepmother. When the plague hits her home, Cinder finds herself in the middle of an intergalactic power struggle between Prince Kai and the overpowering Queen Levana.

A Cinderella retelling that is completely unexpected but includes the original family conflicts, envy, a savior, class distinctions, and concepts.
Cinder is ready to leave the family home but has a lot of legalities to resolve not to mention the lack of necessary funds. Prince Kai is a distraction she doesn’t need but maybe wants.
I can’t wait to continue this series. ( )
