Der er ingen diskussionstråde på Snak om denne bog. typical uneven anthology of Holmes pastiche. my favorite story here is Laughing Fisherman by Deaver, who excels in this format.2622 In the Company of Sherlock Holmes - King/Klinger Audio performance by multiple narrators 4 stars This is a collection of stories inspired by the original Sherlock Holmes. They are written by a cadre of well known authors like Sara Paretsky, Harlan Ellison and Cornelia Funke. Each story is read by a different talented voice artist. One story, which I have yet to track down is, apparently,a cartoon and available only in text. It’s the usual mixed bag of short stories; some are very good, others are bad. The best of the lot was a story called Dunkirk by John Lescroart, read by John Lee. It features an elderly Holmes (using his Sigerson alias), participating in the small craft rescue. It’s great historical fiction with a fun Holmesian twist. There’s also a Harry Bosch story, a take off on the original Silver Blaze story told from the horse’s perspective, and a ghost story based on The Adventure of the Beryl Coronet. My star rating is based on my favorites. I did not attempt to average my rating of each story. I only want to remember the good ones. This is the book that was the subject of a much vaunted (Free Sherlock) lawsuit between the editor, Leslie Klinger, and the Conan Doyle Estate to put the Holmes stories into the public domain. Klinger won. ingen anmeldelser | tilføj en anmeldelse
Tilhører serien
The Sherlock Holmes stories by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle were recently voted the top mystery series of all time, and they have enthralled generations of readers--and writers. Now, Laurie R. King, author of the bestselling Mary Russell series in which Holmes plays a costarring role, and Leslie S. Klinger, editor of The New Annotated Sherlock Holmes, have assembled a stellar group of contemporary authors from a variety of genres and asked them to create new stories inspired by that canon. Inside you'll find Holmes in times and places previously unimagined, as well as characters who have themselves been affected by the tales of Sherlock Holmes. Ingen biblioteksbeskrivelser fundet. |
