Indlæser... The Sea of Monsters (2006)af Rick Riordan
![]() Der er ingen diskussionstråde på Snak om denne bog. I'm a little mixed up on time, so I can't remember if I finished it last night or on the plane this morning. But it was a fun, if slightly younger-skewed mythology adventure. And I do adore Tyson. Once again, a fantastic read; in this book, we are traveling back to Odysseus' return to Ithaca; only the protagonists are other characters. The strange part of this journey is that both Percy and the Cyclops are Posidon's kids, but they fight each other. Athina helped Odysseus on his journey and got Posidon mad. Still, on this new journey, Percy and Annabeth, Athina's daughter and Posidon's son, are partners, and they work together as a team. Loved the idea that Percy has a half brother that is a Cyclop, but Rick Riordan shows us that there are also good species in the monsters' world. For me, this book is another five star read, with a lot of plots and twists. You once again find out who could be the children of the Gods in western civilization from different eras. I liked the idea of Circe, and the spa island was a fantastic idea. I can't wait to read the next book of the series, but I need a small break to continue with the series. Thanks once again, Mr. Rick Riordan. oh PERCY. ♥ I'm just gonna get out my umbrella so I can prep myself for the barrage of rotten fruit coming my way.... I didn't *love* PERCY JACKSON AND THE SEA OF MONSTERS? ... It's not a bad book, but there were a couple things that aggravated me. Firstly, I didn't feel that it really leveled up plot-wise from book one. It had the same formulaic nature (which makes sense because it's a quest) but I thought the monsters were more interesting and more overall threatening in book one. Additionally, Tyson's character portrayal and intelligence levels irked me a little, but I fully confess this many have been heightened by the way the narrator (I listened to the audiobook) chose to voice him. Without an exciting plot that drew me in, and without a lot of character growth, I found SEA OF MONSTERS to be "just okay". I think that fans of Percy Jackson will still enjoy it, and I certainly believe that the intended readership will love the series and so far it deserves all its hype! Percy's voice is fun and likable, and there's no denying Riordan's skill at weaving mythology with a modern, relatable story line. But if I'm being honest, SEA OF MONSTERS isn't a re-reader for me. But that's okay! I'm definitely going to continue the series, and I still recommend it highly as a whole! For more reviews and bookish content, head on over to The Literary Phoenix.
