Meely LaBauve was the first book in the trilogy and I enjoyed reading it. Junior's Leg, the second book, was less interesting, mainly because the character Junior was a bad guy in the first book. Logan's Storm, the final book, was a chore to get through. While the writing is good, the story is way way over padded. I finally resorted to skimming the last 80 pages, just to get through it.

It involves the chefs (their backgrounds) recipes, habitats of the ingredients and the spread of Louisiana cuisine across the nation. Of course, this is partially a biography of the author and his family. but it goes way beyond this. Frankly, the reason I read this book is that I am in a signed first edition book club. But now I am going to the grocery looking to buy Cajun and Creole products. Good book for a narrow audience.… (mere)
