Rev. Dr. Siang-Yang Tan is Professor of Psychology at Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena and Senior Pastor of First Evangelical Church Glendale in Glendale, California. He is a licensed psychologist, with a PhD in clinical psychology from McGill University. He has directed two church-related vis mere lay counseling programs and has published numerous articles and books, including Counseling and Psychotherapy: A Christian Perspective. Dr. Eric Scalise is the President of LIV Enterprises Consulting, LLC, the former Vice President of the American Association of Christian Counselors, and the former Department Chair for Counseling Programs at Regent University. He is a licensed professional counselor and a licensed marriage family therapist with over 36 years of clinical, professional, and ministry experience in the mental health held. vis mindre

This book has everything from the need for a lay counseling ministry to all the details that goes along with building a lay counseling ministry and everything in between. We as Christians are called to help one another and this book is a wonderful reminder of how to "bear one another's burdens."
If counseling doesn't interest you I would not recommend this book but if it does I would highly recommend it. There is so much information it's almost overwhelming if you read it straight through but if you read it a little at a time and use it as a reference it is invaluable.… (mere)
