Summary: A biography of the famous American statesman and jurist who served in the Virginia legislature and in the United States Congress, and later went on to become the Secretary of State and Chief Justice of the Supreme Court.

3661. Sam Rayburn: A Biography, by Alfred Sternberg (read 6 Dec 2002) This biography may not be the best of its subject, but it was the one at our library and I found it high in interest. Especially of interest was the account of Rayburn's life before I began to follow political events--he came to the House in 1913 and was there till he died in 1961. This was easy and fun reading and its bibliography was full of books I would like to read.
