One of the best books on leadership I've read. A bonus is that you get a little history as well!

This was recommended to me by a tablemate at a library retreat. I was underwhelmed. I may not be into the whole leadership thing. It just seems so calculated, and the angle of the book sullies Lincoln. At one point, early on, there was a sentence that included 'great leaders' and Lincoln and Hitler. I should have quietly put it down and walked away.

There is a narrative story to follow while learning his strategies to succeed. When I finished this book I was inspired, motivated, awed, and educated. Martin Luther King Jr. led with humility and decisiveness, organized huge demonstrations without being aggressive, and never wavered in his beliefs. He was a gifted speaker but probably a better example of a leader. This book should be a must read in todays high schools. There are so many principles and techniques that could positively impact students' decisions. Teaching students about non-violent protests, negotiating, and understating human nature could have dramatic consequences into their adult lives. MLK can continue to change the world with the superb example he set.… (mere)
