Fun enough. I diagnose the problem as narration, not the novella.

The two narrators are Wesley Paul and Perry Bishop. Trouble is, I don't know who reads what. I'm guessing Wesley Paul, since he's listed first, narrates Miles - the brother in question - he has a warm, sweet voice. And Perry Bishop is Aiden, the sister's fake boyfriend. Bishop's voice is fine and clear but not - something - maybe romantic comedy enough? a little lacking in sparkle.

I agree with selia's comment below - the family is ott and they take up too much of the novel given they are stale, hackneyed.

These two narrators read Brooke Blaine novels, and I couldn't find another book read by them in any of my libraries - just one other in this series on Audible Plus.… (mere)

I didn't DISlike these two... but I didn't particularly connect with them either. These books are short and I have access to the audio versions, so I'll probably continue with the series and hope they grow on me. It could go either way.

Obviously when it's the same couple through multiple books things won't be tied up neatly with a bow at the end of the first, but an actual *cliffhanger* doesn't entirely feel like playing fair either. I'm not sure this really works as a full story arc either on its own, so maybe instead of three short book it should have just been one slightly longer one to begin with.… (mere)
