A true story about one man whose life was filled with prejudice due to the era of his birth and location of his

Leon Turner was born to parents that were poor. He was raised with the notion that he was still better then the poor negros and that you never really socialized with them. When his mother died and his father started a new life with a Negro and they had children, Leon had issues with what he was taught as a small child and his fathers new family. Leon became a bully and started getting in trouble. Eventually he ended up in prison.

Upon his release he went back to his old habits. Leon decided he wanted something and would go after it. If someone stopped him, he would try to get revenge.

This is the story of how Leon came to be and how he ended up killing three small children and their father and the effects it had on a rural Mississippi city, and how it changed some of the prejudices held in the country at that time in our history. ( )

I appreciate the authors attemp to humanize the Caucasian residents of Attala Mississippi, in a time when white was might. But my parents fled during the great northern migration because my father told me that growing up Black in Attala County Mississippi meant a nigger was a nigger no how much money, talent or education he/she had. Being Black meant you had no opportunity to be "All You Could Be" and there was no way to escape the constant oppression except to escape the south. Many distant relatives were mention. This story has helped explain the gripping fear I've witness since moving here, to Attala. Thank you, Sir for this story. It's helped me come to a better understanding of this quaint, yet dangerous place I call home.
