Sarah Price has moved back to Serenity, South Carolina after a disastrous marriage that has all but ruined her self-esteem. She is struggling to build a new life and her self-confidence when she meets ex-ballplayer Travis McDonald. Travis likes to flirt, but Sarah doesn't take him seriously, at least at first, but starts to have feelings for him when they start working together. However, Sarah is not sure she can trust Travis - she doesn't want to get hurt again, and Travis has a past reputation with women that he is finding hard to shake. Will these two find love and make sweet music together?

"Sweet Tea at Sunrise" is another nice entry in Sheryl Woods Sweet Magnolia series. Sarah's story is a compelling one - a wife who was verbally abused by her husband for years to the point she believes she is a failure - and readers will pull for her as she starts to rebuild her life. Woods also focuses quite a bit on Sarah's ex-husband Walter and he grows as a character in this book. He still has quite a ways to go, but it is interesting to read as he begins to realize how much he hurt Sarah. It is also interesting to read as Sarah struggles to forgive him. Like Tyler in Home in Carolina (Sweet Magnolias) Travis was a professional baseball player, but unlike Tyler, Travis's career is over, and he's trying a new career while trying so shed his playboy reputation. It is also interesting to read about Travis's family especially as Travis tries to prove to others as well as himself that he is not like his father. Woods does an excellent job of portraying small-town life where everybody knows everybody else's business and like to gossip about it, but they also make sure no one gets hurt. The romance between Sarah and Travis is very cute and sizzles at times. There is also a couple of interesting side story lines. The Mary Vaughn/Sonny storyline is a good one as they are faced with major upcoming changes in their lives. However, it is Raylene's story that interested me the most - she is so traumatized by events in her failed marriage that she is afraid to leave the house. I'm eager to find out what happens to her next.

"Sweet Tea at Sunrise" is a very cute romance. ( )

After reading so many heavy books recently, it was delightful to read "Sweet Tea at Sunrise" by Sherryl Woods.

Sarah Price is recovering from a very bad marriage to Walter, a man who let his parents degrade and humiliate Sarah. Sarah moves to Serenity, South Carolina, where she meets a wonderful man, Travis MacDonald. Travis has something of a reputation, as a ladies man and a player, but he wears Sarah down with his charm. He hires Sarah to work at the radio station, he has started up, and makes himself a part of the close knit community.

This was a charming read, full of characters, and small town life (as well as LOVE)! And quite a relief from the more serious books I have been reading lately.

I received this book from Net Galley, and read it on Big Red. ( )
