Fantasy. Fiction. Romance. HTML:In this sexy, gripping novel, Cynthia Eden draws readers deeper into the realm of the Others--vampires, shifters, and sinfully attractive demons whose powers are matched only by their dark hungers. . .

Tall, dark, and formidable, Niol Lapen is the last demon on earth most people would ask for a favor, yet the sexy little reporter who wanders into his club dares to do exactly that. Holly Storm already knows too much about his kind, and Niol has no wish to help her get in deeper over her head. But working alongside her may be the only way to stop a killer, even as it ignites a primal desire unlike anything he's known.

Holly has seen firsthand what Niol is capable of, but that doesn't frighten her nearly as much as her body's instinctive reaction to him, or the wild, fierce passion that would tempt her to follow him through hell itself. Something evil and relentless is prowling the streets of Atlanta. And as Holly's search leads her into danger that even Niol could never have predicted, she'll uncover a secret that could rip her world apart. .

"Fast-paced, fun, and steamy, Midnight's Master is a page-turning treat!" --Jeaniene Frost.

One of my favorite Cynthia Eden books. I re-read it every year. ( )

The heroine was never one to sit back and let those she feels responsible for get hurt. Though she's a reporter, and her kind isn't know for much other than being story hungry monsters who care nothing for the suffering of others if it means getting the ratings, she's never been like that. She cares about people, perhaps too much. Because when her sources starting showing up dead, horrified with guilt she beings searching for the culprit. But she's not stupid. She knows the risks and she also knows her best chance at finding a killer of demons is to get the help from a killer demon. The hero's name resonates fear in the hearts of everyone associated with the Other world. His off the charts power and ruthless nature have served to make him untouchable to his enemies but generally ignorant of love. The heroine tempts him a way he knows nothing good can come out of. Once he loved and lost and the grief and thirst for revenge was what bore him his reputation. But when the reporters life is threatened, he can't allow her to be hurt so he offers a partnership. He'll protect her, guard her and help her track down the human scum who's killing his kind- something he would have done with or without her, and in return, he gets what he wants above all else. Her. The heroine makes no attempt to hid the fact that she's powerfully attracted to the bad boy demon despite his reputation and scary abilities and she enters his bed knowing full well that falling for such a man is dangerous and ill advised. But when her own demoniac nature comes to light it adds to her already stressed out life and it serves to add a new level to the hero's character. The fact that his own childhood was full of neglect from his mother because of his powers and because his growing love for the heroine brings a lightness to his otherwise dark personality, sparks in him the desire to help adolescent demons with controlling their gifts. The heroine makes him a better person, she makes him more human in a way. But though he's painted as an anti hero, I don't see him that way. There was sparks of kindness in him for this book that hadn't been there before in the previous books of the series. He was always portrayed as the evil bad ass demon kingpin whom appeared untouchable and cold. But here, he admitted to wanting to help his fellow demons before they were murdered. And his past and secret torment made him vulnerable and relatable showing that no body no matter how powerful was ever truly untouchable. The heroine was also an amazing character. I hate the reporter stereotype but the heroine was never like that, she was strong and feisty yes, but she was kind and resourceful and realistic about her circumstances. I truly enjoyed this book, as I've enjoyed all of this series. But I can say that this hero was the one I waited for with the most anticipation. And boy, it did not disappoint. More over vampire and werewolf alpha males, and make way for the demons!! ( )

The suspense was good but again, this book didn't do it for me. The passion in this gets 5 stars, but as a whole this story was just bland.

The worst thing about this story was Holly. She was annoyed me to death - stubborn, bossy, pushy, needy, everything she did jeopardized the people/the Other around her and she brought up her cheating ex one too many times. I'm not stupid so I didn't need the constant reminder of what made Zack so bad in her book *eyeroll* ( )

The best of the trilogy. The writing's tighter, the whodunit not as obvious as the first two books, and the romance more engaging. The punctuation problems are still present, but as opposed to that there's less cream mentioned in the sex scenes. (If your vaginal lubrication is creamy, you may want to consult your doctor.) There's plenty of emphasis on hero Niol's POV and he has more than enough manpain to satisfy me, as well as a gratifying protectiveness towards the likeable, competent heroine Holly. I like romances involving lots of reciprocal peril and rescue, and mutual vulnerability, and this book's got a great balance.
