They are the world's gravest super-villains: Ultraman, Owlman, Superwoman, Power Ring and Johnny Quick-the legendary Crime Syndicate of Amerika. Nothing has ever seriously threatened the global corruption they proudly enforce, but now a twisted mirror image of the CSA has arrived from the flip side of reality. An interesting take on the Justice League. There is a parallel anti-matter world basically where villains, who are very much like our heroes, rule with an iron fist. Superman, Wonder Woman, and the others have evil counterparts in this other world. When an escapee of that world comes to our Earth seeking help, the JLA tries to help. But will they be able to? And what happens when the villains learn our world exists? The story did feel a little rushed towards the end, but it was entertaining overall. And in the end, the main villain may not be who you think. ( )

The story of the Crime Syndicate of Amerika. Ultra Man, Superwoman, Power Ring, Owlman, and an evil Johnny Quick are the members of the CSA. They live on the antimatter Earth that in all ways is the opposite of our Earth. Where good is evil, and evil is good. And that is not only a cool idea, but there is even some philosophical discussion at the end of the TPB about what that really means for the worlds.

The story is about how Alex Luthor from evil Earth tries to recruit the JLA from our Earth to help fix the evil world. But, of course, there are some cool twists that happen within that story. And I really liked how some of the characters on the evil Earth were definitely different, and how the writers didn't feel like they had to totally stick to the exact opposite story on the evil Earth.

On the bad side though, I really, really didn't like how the artist drew Superman, or especially how he drew Wonder Woman. She looked more manly than some of the men in the comic. And that's never a good thing in my mind. ( )

Kind of a weird story. Basically a freak accident causes Lex Luthor from Earth 3 to show up in Earth 2 (the mainstream Earth). Earth 3 is backwards land, good is evil, up is down, black is white, etc. So Luthor from Earth 3 is a good guy fighting against the tyranny of the evil justice leauge, the Crime Syndicate of America, complete with evil versions of Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, and the Flash.

The problem is, this isn't really done as a "what if", it seems like the mainstream continuity intersects this alternate one. As a result, nothing of any consequence can happen, and the book has a bit of an unsettling futility to it. SPOILERS: the JLA, after a big fight, basically realizes that they can't change the evil dimension at all, and they just let Lex Luthor (good one) go back to be tortured forever by failure against tyrants. Depressing.

An interesting book, but kind of hokey in general, and a little pointless-feeling. Still, well-written and well-illustrated, it's probably worth a read but it's lacking substance. ( )

It's the mirror-mirror episode of Star Trek with the Justice League. Still a good story so you'll enjoy it.
I enjoyed the comic but I had to be honest about what is. There's a reason this was turned into a DC animated movie. That's why I can recommend this book. ( )
