I....give up. I can't get into this book. I've tried. I've fallen asleep sitting up already. Nicola is a very angry girl. Or maybe beyond angry. I'm not sure where she is on the scale. Scathing mad, perhaps?

The synopsis sounded better than the actual book, in my opinion. I've tried another book by Ms. Domning and I just don't think I'm in her "target audience." So I'm going to try another book...by someone else. ( )

Third in the Graistan Chronicles series. This one follows the youngest Fitzhenry brother, Gilliam and Nicola of Ashby. I think Gilliam is my favorite of the brothers but, I have to say Nicola is not my favorite heroine. She's annoyingly hard headed and it gets tiresome very quickly. But, aside from that I enjoyed this book very much. Once Nicola stops being an absolute snot the story gets more interesting. The villain is predictable and a little weak but, the conflict works and the conclusion is good and sets up the next book in the series. For anyone interested in this series a Kindle version box set is available on Amazon - of course this became available after I had purchased all five books separately! ( )

Series is still pretty solid, and I like this one just about as much as I did the first (so definitely better than the second)

I still prefer the sex scenes way steamier, but hey, take what you can get. I liked the relationship between the two main characters better than the last book by quite a bit. I do like that this book was more focused on the day to day medieval manor life than the actual conflict with the baddy.

It would be best to read the first book in the series (Winter's Heat will give you the back story to the two characters, plus this pretty much starts soon after the other one ends).

Nicola of Ashby has sworn to avenge her father's death and the destruction of Ashby by Gilliam Fitzhenry. Her liege lord has handed her in marriage to his brother because the man was insane enough to ask for the hoyden. He just wants a partner to help rebuild the village, but sparks fly, yadda yadda.

I liked both characters. They had issues they had to get through, but not as much as the usual tropes. I could have lived with a little less of the 'romantic' sexual assaults, but at least the main hero drew the line at rape (small favors?).

The book was humorous and fun as well, and I loved the characters of Jos and Gilliam. ( )

Although a tad predictable, I found this book thoroughly enjoyable and ripped through it in a few days. It is obvious the amount of careful research the author put in to "Spring's Fury", and her detailed knowledge of the period really adds to the narrative. A fun read :) ( )
