We read this book on zoom within the class discussion. It was one one of the first books we read after we were required to participate all classes online. I think it was a great pick because as students we were all very nervous and anxious about how this semester was going to proceed on. The COVID-19 virus has shaken everyone's world and everyone was nervous, so to read this book was very inspirational. I really needed that book at the time and still could read it for encouragement today. It just gives a message saying hope os everywhere, don't give up just keep going. ( )

I love this book because it is inspirational and very motivating. The pictures in the story stood out to me because it's real people. This story shows a powerful meaning, and it's different. Throughout the story, repetition is used, which is, "Hope is..." Hope can be many things. During this time we are going through a pandemic COVID-19, and we hope it will end as soon as possible. This story is great for young readers, and this book will help students understand the true message behind hope. This book is great for adults as well. This whole book is beautiful in a poetic way. Everyone needs hope in something. ( )

This book was a nice read. the first thing that stood out to me was the fact that the pictures are photographs and not drawings or cartoons. I think this will really catch a child's eye simply because it is different. Even though this book has a deep message, the language is simple so I think it'll be good for younger audiences. The book gives the message that even when things are bad to still have hope and that hope means something different for everyone. ( )

I was introduced to this book at the most appropriate time, a time of fading hope in the world during a pandemic. This book was inspiring and motivating. I especially loved the illustrations as real pictures of real people. It was beautiful and simple in its own poetic way. I really enjoyed it, and will keep it in mind during times when it feels like it is far away. ( )

I really enjoyed this book. I loved that it uses photographs rather than drawn illustrations. The book is very encouraging and inspirational, and the message of hope is really great. I really like the format of this concept book, with the repetition of defining what "hope is" to different people. I think that all ages can truly benefit from this book. A young child may not fully grasp everything but could still enjoy the repetition and feel-good message, and an adult can always benefit from a story as powerful as this. ( )
