I found this volume to be a bit less interesting than the previous ones, since we barely see anything of Cade Skywalker and company, but it does establish a strong secondary plot line regarding the politcal machinations going on between the ruling Sith, the renegade Emperor Roan Fel, and the remainders of the Galactic Alliance. Basically the authors are rewriting their current conflicts to mirror those of over a century earlier, with a group of rebels fighting against the brutal dictatorship of the rulers, which they make even simpler with the conclusion of the storyline being that the New Empire and the Galactic Alliance are being pushed together by their mutual hatred of the Sith. It will be interesting to see whether these two parties manage to play nicely together in the long run, since they do have a lot of the same goals to recreate a peace throughout the Galaxy. ( )

The first Mon Cal arc wasn't my favorite. The art wasn't to the level of what has come before and the story seemed to drag on. The Darth Wyyrlok arc was better, but he seems too overpowered. ( )

The events in this Graphic Novel take places 137 years after the Battle of Yavin. If you don't know when that is, or what that battle refers to, this is probably not a good place to start. The art work in this novel was done by Omar Francia and Alan Robinson. The artwork is not nearly as impressive as others in the series, and pales compared to Vol. I.

This is actually a collection of stories from different perspectives in the same time frame, but, as its Vol. IV, you would definitely want to read the first III before starting this one. Not that it's impossible to follow, but it does not work well as a stand-alone. ( )

A good collection of tales of the important events in the galaxy that happen far away from Cade Skywalker and his comrades. Some fine examples of heroism from the Galactic Alliance, the Imperial Knights, and even a Sith Lord. ( )

I've said it before: the best parts of Legacy are those without Cade Skywalker. So, given he doesn't show up at all in this volume, it turns out pretty well. This volume's four issues (disappointingly few after Shards's seven) make up three side stories, mostly focusing on the growing Galactic Alliance Remnant and its rebellion against the Sith Empire. The best of these is "Indomitable", about Admiral Gar Stazi taking the fight to Mon Calamari. Stazi is 100% awesome (of course he is, he's an old-guard authority figure) and it's an enjoyable tale. "The Wrath of the Dragon" and "Into the Core" suffer from being done-in-ones, especially given how much is going on in the former.

The art is pretty good. Duursema might not contribute, but Omar Francia's work in "Indomitable" and "Into the Core" is solid; even his Mon Cals are expressive! On the other hand, Alan Robinson's illustrations for "The Wrath of the Dragon" are usually ugly or confusing, frequently both.
