A real-life thread on an internet forum started it all. A nerdy otaku meets a girl on a train and posts an urgent query on the web--How the heck do you talk to girls? What should he wear on the date? Where should they go? The forum's response was amazing, and the thread grew incrementally longer as the nerd's relationship with the woman developed. Eventually published in book format to become a best seller, the thread spawned a blockbuster movie, a hit TV series, as well as this heartwarming manga adaptation of an entire internet community rooting for love and romance.… (mere)

Ah, such a feel good boy meets girl love story!

I usually hate boy meets girl love stories. I prefer books where everyone dies in the end.

But this - I just couldn't help myself! Train Man and Hermess continue their relationship with the whole Internet community rooting them on. I was rooting for Train Man. Go, Train! You can do this!

Well, anyway, I had a soft spot for the geeky guy who gets a really smart chick. ( )

This concludes the outcome of Train Man's courage.

I just don't like the idea of him letting go of all his otaku stuff. He really changed for someone but isn't it wrong to repress himself of his passion and interest? Isn't it better if Hermes accept him for his true self? ( )

This story remains really cute. I love the way Train Man keeps the rest of the 2Channel forum waiting throughout this volume. It was cute and suspenseful in the novel and remains so here. Even though I knew how it was going to end, it still felt extremely rewarding. I look forward to reading some other manga versions of this (and maybe even watching the jdrama), but it'll be a while before I read them, since I want to keep enjoying them. ( )

This review is for all three books in the series.

Interesting story with decent humour and the artwork isn't all that bad.

I have a problem with the moral of the story though. The whole point of the work is that the main character changes his entire life just to get the pretty girl. Instead of trying to have her accept his as he is, he has to change his clothes, his appearance, what he likes, his habits, and all the rest. In other words, he becomes a fake.

While love may be more important, is living as a lie for how ever long this relationship lasts worth it? After all, the very end of book 3 has him introducing her to what he enjoys without her seeming to be upset about it. ( )

DO NOT COMBINE w/ Wataru Watanabe's nor Daisuke Douke's series'!!!!

This version of Train Man was illustrated by HIDENORI HARA and published by VIZ. It is NOT the same as the version illustrated by Wataru Watanabe (published by CMX) nor Daisuke Douke's (Taifu Comics).

Though they each were inspired by the same maybe-real-life story, they are three totally SEPARATE works from different authors and publishers!
