From the perspective of a military historical fiction, a retelling of a Greek classic, this story is very satisfying. From the author's notes, the Anabasis was a major influence on Alexander the Great - in reading it, you can see why. In many ways, Lost Army is more educational than entertaining (unless, of course, you are entertained by the education, which I was). The excellent visual descriptions, the pervasive nuances of Spartan military life, the harshness of the lands and climates, the political complexities and the sheer, unbelievable trials that those soldiers had to endure, are all factors that made it worth reading. http://wolfandrain.blogspot.com/2010/10/review-lost-army-by-valerio-m-manfredi.h... ingen anmeldelser | tilføj en anmeldelse
