The Bendis era Avengers read through continues with result of the Iron Man's victory in the Civil War; the Initiative. We are introduced to a new group of 'young' Avengers but these heroes are going to be trained before they are allowed to hit the field. I actually like the new characters introduced here and how they deal with the machinations of those in charge. A pretty good read with nice covers by Jim Cheung and solid art (for five issues) by Stefano Caselli inside. Dan Slott sets up some nice mysteries in this first volume, which is a bit like Young Avengers Join the Army. It is mostly about young super-powered recruits who have to work for the government if they want to use their powers. It is part of the much larger crossover events running through Marvel comics at the time: Civil War, World War Hulk, the Secret Invasion, etc., but reads well enough on its own. Basically, though, it is a story about military recruits, not so much your typical Avengers vs. super-villain action. So expect a lot of recruits being told they are maggots and being forced to run till they puke. Jewel of a concept - super hero boot camp in the aftermath of the superhero Civil War, lots of great (and lots of bad ideas), execution ranging from occasionally workmanlike to frequently terrible, even, ahem, comical. On the other hand, I have a soft spot for at least three of the chicks in this book (Thor Girl, Cloud 9, and definitely Dani Moonstar). And that means a lot to a geek. collects Avengers: The Initiative #1-6 Basic Training After the Civil war tony stark has set up his superhero training and registration center in Stamford, Connecticut. This follows the story of some young new recruits, that include a few of the former new warriors. Also the Hulk returns from some where in outer space, he is very angry and has some very big and scary friends. One of the new recruits unknowingly helps make him impossible to stop. ingen anmeldelser | tilføj en anmeldelse

It's not bad, lots of new (to me at least) faces here with a couple old ones. Basically showing exactly why there shouldn't have been a registration act, because the government is evil. ( )
