Ten Years Can Disappear In The Blink Of An Eye... One look at August Meyer, and Evie Ray Randall is transported back to happier times. Times before her loveless marriage and subsequent divorce. Times before she'd become an overworked, stressed-out mom. August reminds her of hot summers and even hotter times, playing in the surf, sharing secrets...and losing their innocence. Then the budding lovers had headed for college--on separate coasts--and everything had changed. Her life is in Texas now, with her two little girls, and his obligations are to his family and business in Bishop's Gate, Florida. But even a decade apart and a world of regret hasn't broken their connection or dimmed their attraction for each other one bit. If their love was worth waiting for, maybe it's worth fighting for....… (mere)

Evie visits her parents in Bishop’s Gate, Florida, with her two young daughters. While there, she runs into her former boyfriend, August. She hasn’t seen him since she left Bishop’s Gate ten years ago to go to college in Texas. She found herself another guy in Texas, married him, had two kids, and now she’s divorced. Old feelings resurface between Evie and August, but there doesn’t seem to be a future for them since her life is now in Texas, while his is in Florida where he runs his family’s resort.

The story started off with promise. I loved the setting of the Florida coastal town Bishop’s Gate. I enjoyed getting to know the people there. I liked the beach, and August’s family-run resort. I really liked August, his sister and his mother. I wasn’t all that crazy about Evie though. While August was still in love with Evie even after all the years that had passed, I never really got that much of a feeling back from her. She acted like she returned his feelings, but she never seemed to have a problem dumping him at the drop of a hat if the situation suited her. It seemed like she just wanted him around because she was lonely. August was always going out of his way to please her, while she did basically nothing for him. Just because she had kids, she acted like everything had to revolve around her because of her responsibility to them. While I get that, and give her credit for being a great mother, this was still a romance book, so I expect some give and take on both sides. No concessions were ever given on her part. August made all the sacrifices. I didn’t like how the story ended either. I was beyond disappointed that they ended up choosing to live in Texas instead of Florida. The majority of the book was set in Florida which I thought was for a reason. I didn’t see the point of building up the charming Florida town and the people there and the sense of community only to pick Texas in the end. ( )
