I laughed out loud in places at this British school girl. A lovely fresh voice. Recommend it for younger girls reading in the young adult section. 13 or 14 or so as it's pretty clean. ( ) Love the build up to the last chapter. Read twice now that I've hunted down the whole series. ---------------- - #.5 Flirting for England: 3* - Not my favorite of the series. Glad I read it but wouldn't read it again. // Jess is 15, parents are divorced, lives w/ her mom, dad absent. bff Flora & a guy bff Fred. she & friends will be hosting French exchange student. she gets a guy! Fred to be her stand-in bf when she finds out he's not hot & might like her. Jodi's exchange stu, Gerard, is hot. Flora snogging him. Jodi pissed. Campout at Jodi's gmom's. Ben Jones & Mackenzie are invited to campout to diffuse Jodi's anger. Jess crushes on Ben Jones. Jess's gmom speaks to her dead husband. - #1 Charming but Insae: 4* - Flora dating Mackenzie. Ben always tagging around Jess. Jess's gmom moves in. Fred & Jess have misunderstanding. Fred is trying to give her space because she is "dating" Ben. & she screwed up on getting his mom a bday present & not showing up for her party. The last chapter she goes to ask if he is interested in Flora because Flora is interested in him & he said no he is interested in her. She is blown away, not realizing that her confusing feelings were actually "feelings". no need to read again. - #2 Absolute Torture: 4* - Love the last quarter of the book. Couldn't love it without the first three-quarters. So I love the whole book. - #3 Pants on Fire: 3* - Fred has gray eyes. The cover has them as blue. Re-read. Fred sure is cute and Jess gets herself into such angsty positions. Has typical slow build up to a good ending. - #4 Five Star Fiasco: 3* - At about half way now. Very adult-like stresses going on and I'm not enjoying that. Her and Fred are planning a large dinner "party" to raise money for a charity. They collected ticket money but can't find it. They haven't booked a caterer or band. They have plans to go to the beach the weekend before knowing full well they are not ready for their dinner party... Her mom is trying online dating, her dad is having issues. Not fun. - #5 - 3* - From the Q&A with the author in the back of the book: "Who do you imagine playing Jess, Flora and Fred in a movie? Carey Mulligan would be Jess, Emma Watson would be Flora and Jamie Campbell Bower would be Fred." - #6 Party Disaster!: 3* - I hunted down every book in the series and just finished the last. I will pass the set on. The last couple books were a bit stressful vs. fun. This one had a small spot of stress but it was one of my favorites of the series. *hugs* to Jess and Fred. cya ingen anmeldelser | tilføj en anmeldelse
