I really enjoyed the diversity that Moore picked for this collection of stories. From established authors to new voices, there is a discovery for everyone as well as comfortable delights. I found I relished the new talent: fresh, brazen and quick; whereas the older generation has a real talent for manipulating language through subtlety and distance. Not all will appeal, but I found that all the stories are very well balanced - I didn't find a weak story in the bunch, which is a testimony to our rich literature.

I do have one regret: Moore did not include any Canadian Francophone writers, many of whom are translated. I thought that was a sore oversight. ( )
