This book is about a girl named Priscilla and her best enemy, Felicity Doll. Priscilla finds that none of her friends are in her new class. Instead, she meets Felicity Doll. Felicity Doll is mean, sneaky, and conniving. She steals Priscilla’s cool desk, her new pencil case, and nice lunchbox. When Priscilla decides not to invite Felicity to her birthday party, Felicity tries to be her friend. Despite her best efforts Felicity is not capable of being a friend. In the end, they all decided that she will never be a good friend but will always be a “best enemy”.

I really liked this book because it’s something that every kid has dealt with. We’ve all had that one kid who was snarky and mean to us for no apparent reason. The writing was simple and witty so it was enjoyable and easy to follow. I also enjoyed the simple illustrations on random pages. They were humorous and full of character. I wish that felicity had learned a real lesson in the end but I find that it was very realistic that she learned nothing in the end.

Classroom Extension Ideas:
1. The classroom can brainstorm about their idea of a good friend and a bad friend. The teacher can write them on a large piece of paper to display in the classroom.
2. The teacher can provide the children a personal journal and ask the children to write about a good experience they had had with a friend or a bad experience they have had with an “enemy”. Be sure that they know that whatever they write will be confidential so they can be honest. ( )
