This was one of those books that are very hard to put down, I found myself eagerly turning the next page to find out what would happen next.
With a sociopath turning up unexpectedly after several years of no contact, she is not there to just say hello. Money has a habit of running through her fingers and it appears she will do just about anything to get her hands on some of her deceased Uncles millions, why not, he was always generous in the past wasn’t he?
A budding romance between the sociopaths cousin and the local rookie police officer gives that little bit extra human context to the story. Storyline was believable and the characters were just about walking off the pages.
An excellent read ( )

As I read Drawn from Life, I developed several theories about what actually happened, but it wasn’t until the very end that I knew for sure. Ms. Blanchard does a masterful job of giving readers just enough information to keep them questioning their theories. Additionally, her characters are relatable and evoke a wealth of emotions. Definitely worth a read! ( )

Emma and Lucy are cousins who are complete opposites. Emma is the calm, caring and sweet cousin while Lucy is narcissistic, selfish and irritable. When Emma is in an accident that causes her excruciating bodily harm and loss of memory, Lucy disappears. Lucy reappears almost a decade later with a different name and different look.
This book touches on family dynamics, family relationships, friendships that help us out of our darkest times and healing after a traumatic event. The characters are believable and compelling. There are times I wished I was actually there with Emma to help her deal with Lucy, so you will definitely feel drawn in to the story.
There is more of a gradual development to the book instead of being fast-paced. Although I prefer a quick and hurried feel to a thriller, I genuinely liked this novel. I will definitely recommend this book.
Thank you Sarah P. Blanchard for the advanced reader copy. Happy Pub Day!! ( )

The author does a wonderful job of making the protagonist/sociopath as a very unlikeable person. The story starts off with cousins Emma and Lucy living together. Emma is the main character and you want to shake her and tell her to stand up for herself. Lucy is a young adult that thinks more of herself than others. Life can and does take an ugly turn. This is a great story that has you wanting to stay in touch with the characters to see where they go. Very well written and makes you want to see what else the author has written. ( )

I was excited to read this novel, and it did not disappoint. The book follows Emma in the years after a fatal car crash that kills three others and leaves her the only survivor. Guilt over the accident and no recollection of the event itself leaves her in a desperate search for answers. When her wild and reckless cousin comes back into the picture and pieces of that fated night come to light, will Emma be able to face her demons to uncover what really happened?

Loaded with suspense, multiple POVs, and the hint of a romantic connection, this book checked all the boxes. I was rooting for Emma the entire book, hoping she could work past the guilt, and the fact that she is a strong character with physical disabilities was nice to see. I was worried about how the author would portray the character's brain injuries in terms of understanding the storyline. Still, the author did a great job of building Emma's character and her physical ailments from the accident.

The side characters were also enjoyable. Everyone has a distinct personality, and the book shows that the author has researched multiple areas to keep the book accurate and believable. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed the book and would recommend it to anyone who likes a great mystery to solve and a main character who is flawed but stronger than they ever imagined.
