From the award-winning creators of Powers, Brian Michael Bendis (Superman, Action Comics, Ultimate Spider-Man) and Michael Avon Oeming (Cave Carson has an Interstellar Eye, Powers, The Mice Templar) comes a crime-infused blast of alternate history from an unexpected perspective! Years ago, the five families of organized crime had such a stranglehold over the American public that the U.S. government found itself forced to give up part of the country or lose all of it. Now the unrest between America and the families has come to a boil. A war is about to come-a war no one is ready for. Newly-made man Valentine Gallo and mob hit-woman Jagger Rose find themselves torn over which side of the war they want to be on. Collects United States vs Murder Inc. #1-6.… (mere)

Less interesting plot than the first volume, especially as events escalate and make the (already steep) suspension of disbelief even greater, but still entertaining. The story has an odd set up of constantly introducing what seems like major plotlintes only to immediately take a sharp left turn away from them, but while jarring and sometimes anticlimactic, this does yield some exciting scenes. Despite in some databases restarting the numbering at "volume 1", this is the direct continuation and sequel to the original "The United States of Murder Inc.", thus the second volume of that series, and not to be confused with the first.
