Donna runs a B&B with some help from her husband Mark, a police detective. They are expecting some special guests from "over the pond" in the form of Howard, a Scotland Yard detective, and his wife Elizabeth.

Luckily there is a murder to keep them all entertained, and while Mark is allowed to have Howard tag along with him with the official sanction of his Chief, Donna takes Elizabeth with her to prove (again) that Donna's intuition and knowledge of the locals has its place in helping the official investigation, and so Elizabeth can demonstrate to her disapproving husband that she too can solve crimes.

Some humour is thrown into the mix by the contrast between Donna's expectations of what she thinks English people like to do, and Elizabeth's list of "American" things she wants to do while in the USA, plus the misunderstandings that arise from the differences between American English and British English (language).

An entertaining cosy mystery that has my wife and I looking forward to reading more books in the series.
