Short and light 3 stars I have been reading my way through the Introvert series - of which this is the second - and the preceding Bookworm series. Each book does stand alone and is about a separate couple although Emma Hart’s cameo game is strong and most previous couples do reappear - although not in the cutesy, loving way I like to see my prior couples. Never mind… I hadn’t read the blurb in a while when I started reading this book so I’d forgotten who London’s hero was…and when he appeared on the page I still wasn’t sure. There was no evident chemistry between London and Oliver and for a great while they didn’t seem to feel much for each other, other than a passing attraction. This did get better as time went on - but with no sex and only some fairly chaste kisses, they weren’t ever likely to set my kindle on fire. The ‘speed dating’ hook is just that - a quick and non-essential thing that happens once or twice and is then never spoken of again. And London is definitely not an introvert and, other than the title, is never described as such. Despite her non-introvert status, I liked London. She was mature, sensible and just a little bit feisty. Not even on the radar of the snarkiness of many of Hart’s previous heroines but she was funny and likeable. Ollie was cute and fun. I liked the way he was a little bit shy when it came to asking London out but was a wee charmer when he got in there! He’s a Brit so we get a good range of British words and banter - but I have to say I’m disappointed that despite being British herself (or at the very least living here) there still seems to be some confusion by the author over the distinction between Britain and England. Emma Hart’s writing is always light, fun and very easy to read. Despite never really feeling wholly invested in the story or characters, I had no trouble finishing this story and wanted to read to the end. I’m excited by the next book in the series, which will round off this series with Piper’s story. Although we get a happy ending, there is definitely a rush to the finish and I would have liked to see a lot more between our couple. It’s not the best book of Ms Hart’s but it’s still a fun diversion full of her usual wit and humour. Just 3 stars from me but probably worth about 3.5. ingen anmeldelser | tilføj en anmeldelse

This is the second book in The Introvert’s Guide series and even though the characters may appear in other books in the series it works as a stand-alone. I liked London right away. She is the single mom of a six-year-old boy and doesn’t have a lot of time left for dating with her son, work, and taking care of the household. Oliver is a soccer, or as he would say football, coach. London’s son, Leo, is on one of his teams and he has definitely noticed London.
I really liked London and Oliver as a couple. Their relationship develops rather slowly throughout the story and it is actually a lot tamer than I expected. I really liked the way that they both put Leo first and how much fun the three had together. There really weren’t a lot of obstacles to their relationship but I had fun going along for the ride while they figured it out.
Avery Reid and Will Watt did a great job with the narration of this story. I really was especially partial to the accent that Will Watt used for Oliver. I thought that they both did a great job bringing the characters to life. I loved the emotion that they were able to show through their narration. I believe that their narration added to my overall enjoyment of the story.
I would recommend this book to others. I found this to be a fun shorter romance with characters that were easy to fall for. I definitely plan to read more of this series soon!
