( ) Fear and pessimism are running themes throughout the story that highlights Dr. Manhattan's relationship with the universe. Superman stands in contrast, working as a poster boy for hope, trust, and optimism. It starts off slow, focusing at first on Ozymandias and his ruined world thanks to Rorschach's secret journal. We're then taken on a journey to the DC Universe, meeting Batman and the Justice League (minor) and then Superman. Strangely enough, Dr. Manhattan's take on this universe is quite interesting, especially in the way he sees the superheroes not as a symbol of hope. They're rather stand-ins for paranoia and fear in an increasingly divided world, mirroring his own. Superman might have stolen the show if not for Ozymandias. Ever the trickster, he pulls off another trick to fool Dr. Manhattan, but this time saving the world in the process, not just uniting it. "Brilliant" was my initial thought, and after further thought, I still feel it's good, though it doesn't quite stand as strong in the face of other possibilities. ingen anmeldelser | tilføj en anmeldelse

"The world of Watchmen collides with the DC Universe in a story that rewrites the past, present, and future of comics! Dr. Manhattan, a near-omnipotent being from the Watchmen universe, has been using his powers to rewrite the DC Universe-reshaping some heroes' histories, erasing other heroes altogether, and playing with the fates of the good and evil alike. But why? What does a godlike being from another world stand to gain from the DC Universe? The mystery remains, but now that our heroes know they're being toyed with, what can they do to stop it? The clock is ticking..."-- Ingen biblioteksbeskrivelser fundet. |
