"Tells the true story of a brave woman called peace pilgrim" For twenty-eight years she walked and talked of peace all over the 50 states of the US and even into Canada and Mexico. She had lived through the 1918 influenza, World Wars 1 and 2. At 44 she gave up everything she had, including her name and walked tirelessly to spread the need to cease all wars and became a peace activist and spiritual teacher until her death in an auto accident at age 72. Amazing! Illustrator Annie Bowler fills the pages with simple artistry which adds to the impact of this woman's biography. All libraries need this book so we can all remember her and her message. I requested and received a free temporary e-book on Adobe Digital Editions from Flyaway Books via NetGalley. Thank you! A wonderfully lyrical story about a woman who gives up everything she owns, including her own given name and begins a journey unlike any other; A journey that will inspire and bring hope to everyone who is blessed with the knowledge of Peace Pilgrims presence and message. Young listeners may find this story a little long but it is quite beautiful and captivating and is the perfect story for all ages as everyone can take away several lovely lessons from the example Peace Pilgrims provides. Thank you to netgalley and publisher for providing me an e-copy to read and leave my honest opinion. This is one book that I will definitely be buying for my child and will be telling everyone I know with children how important this books message is! This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers. A wonderful picture book about a kind-hearted woman seeking to spread peace throughout the United States. The illustrations are vibrant and demonstrative of Peace Pilgrim's experiences. This was an interesting read. The Peace Pilgrim was someone who had a decent and easy life, but was against war and fighting. In midlife she gave up everything she owned to walk for peace. Once started, her journey didn’t end until death. This was an interesting biography about a relatively unknown woman. I do wish the author was a bit better about dates in the story part and not just the end matter, but overall it was a lovely read. ingen anmeldelser | tilføj en anmeldelse
