Fiction. Romance. Suspense. Christian Fiction. Hate mail was one thing. This was quite another. Radio talk show host Eve Reilly is used to backlash from her pot-stirring on-air commentary and interviews. But now it seems a disgruntled listener is resorting to more than angry words to express their displeasure. When a suspicious package arrives on her doorstep, Eve turns to law enforcement for help. Police detective Brent Lange can't find any evidence to link the string of unsettling incidents that follows, but he's convinced they're connected. As the harassment grows more menacing, it becomes clear someone wants Eve's voice silenced—permanently. But unless he can track down her elusive foe, the gutsy woman who is willing to take risks for what she believes— and who is swiftly winning his heart—may not survive.… (mere)

Hmm, I have waited a few days to write this review and am still not sure what to say. On one hand, it was a good story but on the other, there were a lot of aspects that I was not too fond of.
I was quite fond of Eve's personality. She was not at all shy and very blunt. She definitely had me laughing at points because of the way she point-blank addressed everything.
Now, this story got very political at times. As you may know, I do not like politics discussed much in books (either side of the aisle) and this felt over the top at times.
Overall, this was a decent story but not one that I will be rereading.

Rating: 3/5
Language: n/a
Romance: kissing
Spiritual: characters are Christians
Violence: a lot of violence of various sorts due to the nature of the story, Antifa, bullet wounds

*I received a copy of this novel from the publisher. All thoughts are my own and a positive review was not required. ( )

My second book of the month!

The cover of "Point of Danger" was different than most suspense I've seen.

I have fixed feelings about this book. Getting the point of view of SO MANY characters was okay, but the fact that we got in the head of the bad guys was slightly disturbing ... Mostly just one of the bad guys who was a complete and utter jerk to those he felt he was above ... And, that was everybody so, yeah, icky.

May I just say I called it?! I knew it was gonna be who it was... I JUST KNEW IT. I didn't want it to be but I KINDA JUST KNEW!

The romance, I liked, it wasn't too overpowering from the suspense and they both blended together well...

I am REALLY hoping that Cate gets a book, just because I want to know more and I loved seeing the bits of her we got in "Point of Danger"

I appreciate how Irene Hannon took a suspense that could have been normal and turned it into a different book dealing with real things in a real way that left you with a thirst to know more about the subjects covered. I was somewhat shocked by the subjects covered, totally NOT DISagreeing, just kind of shocked that it was in a suspense, but I liked it. Quite a bit.

As always, I look forward to reading another Irene Hannon novel.

Content: The bad guys are jerks and it shows...? Some kissing. Mentions of a miscarriage.

I voluntarily received and reviewed a complimentary e/copy of this book which I received from the author/publisher. All views expressed are only my honest opinion.

I could bet on a couple of things when reading this book

1.) The girl would become a damsel in distress
2.) The law enforcement guy assigned to the case would be single and they would be attracted to each other "against their will."
3.) The guy would end up saving the girl
4.) The ending would involve a kiss and either a proposal or marriage.

Let's just say I batted a perfect 1000 when it came to this book. Eva and Brent's story was not surprising at all. However, Eva was more of a "stronger" female protagonist than other Irene Hannon books. I really liked Eva's tenacity and how she pursued Brent when he was unsure of a relationship. It showed guts. Additionally, I didn't fully see the villain (although I did feel the end was wrapped up with the individual too quickly and their demise was given a sentence. I wanted more.)

And of course Eva's sisters will feature in the other books in the series. But with them being strong willed like their sister, I am excited. So while yes this book was formulaic (much as I am feeling Kingsbury's books are becoming), I don't mind it as much. I like my suspenseful books to be more "light" in flare so they won't keep me up at night. ;) ( )
