"This parable from the beloved philosopher Alan Watts tells the story of a confused fish who begins to chase his own tail in an effort to keep from falling to the bottom of the ocean. The poor fish becomes more and more anxious and exhausted, until the Great Sea speaks up to remind him of what was supporting him all along. This is a 32-page, fully illustrated picture book with illustrations from award-winning illustrator Khoa Le with a message every bit as relevant now as when it first appeared in a periodical in the 1950s"--… (mere)

In this tale of a tail, we meet a fish with a curiously familiar problem—he’s gotten himself so mixed up that he spends all his time chasing himself in circles! Only the Great Sea knows how to help our poor fish get out of the mess he’s created with his own runaway thoughts.

This is supposed to be a children's picture book, but the language is far too advanced for the intended audience. The message is good and the art is amazing, but this is not a kid's story. ( )

This is a fabulous story of a fish who learns to appreciate how he moves and glides through the ocean. At first, he doesn't realize that he is actually swimming. It's a story of teaching about awareness and the author takes the reader on a spiritual journey of discovery and growth. This book would be an excellent early childhood read to support the Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) curriculum for young children.

This is the spanish version of an outstanding picture book just published in 2021 (The Fish Who Found the Sea). See the English review for more details. This spanish version could be utilized in early elementary spanish classrooms, bilingual classrooms, and world language classrooms through middle school. ( )
