This was a fun futuristic take on the story Sleeping Beauty. It's geared toward the princess lover but also toward the book lover, as everyone in princess Lex's kingdom loves to read. Instead of a spinning wheel the curse is placed on a paper cut from a book. However, instead of cutting her finger and falling asleep Lex is smarter and uses a bot to hold her books while she goes in search of the fairy who put the curse on her. While on her journey she reads and learns everything she needs to know from learning how to fly to how to get rid of unwanted thorns. When all of the fairy's attempts at keeping Lex away fail she tries to curse a book, which again doesn't work out.. Lex is to smart for her.

I loved the fact that instead of creating a weak princess the author created a strong young lady who was smart enough to overcome the obstacle placed in front of her. It's a great way to prove to all young ladies that they can be stronger than their circumstance.

The illustrations are bright and vibrant. They fill up the entirety of the pages and are full of tons of fun details. Your eyes can't help but sweep across the entire page looking for anything it missed. What a fun vibrant take on an old classic. ( )

this is for intermediate students, it is about a princess who loves reading but gets her books taken away and she uses reading as a way to get all her books back from a bad fairy. ( )

I am 100% in love with this book and want my own copy! Lex is a Black princess who loves to read. But she has been cursed to get a papercut that will put her in a deep sleep to await true love's kiss. But Lex is strong and smart and is going to break the curse all by herself with her trusty books and her loving dog Prince. Love this story, love the artwork. Love it all! ( )
