"Everyone's a aliebn when ur a aliebn too is the illustrated story of a lonely alien sent to observe Earth, only to meet all sorts of creatures with all sorts of perspectives on life, love, and happiness, all while learning to feel a little better about being an alien--based on the enormously popular Twitter account, @jonnysun. Here is the unforgettable story of Jomny, a lonely alienwho, for the first time ever, finds a home on our planet after learning that earthlings can feel lonely too. Jomny finds friendship in a bear tired of other creatures running away in fear, an egg struggling to decide what to hatch into, an owl working its way to being wise, a tree feeling stuck in one place, a tadpole coming to terms with turning into a frog, a dying ghost, a puppy unable to express itself, and many more. Through this story of a lost, lonely and confused alien finding friendship, acceptance, and love among the creatures of Earth, we will all learn how to be a little more human. And for all of us earth-bound creatures here on this planet, we can all be reminded that sometimes, it takes an outsider to help us see ourselves for who we truly are"--… (mere)

This graphic novel reminds me of 'The Little Prince" . We step back and look at our Earthly lives through the eyes of an aliebn named Jomny, who was sent here to study Earthlings.

This can be a really quick read and I did blast through this graphic novel because I wanted to see how it would end. This book would require multiple readings to get the subtleties and insights.

Third reread:
I only just realised that Bee who kept repeating things was a Spelling Bee, wow W-O-W wow, i am slow.
Its easy to think this is a simple book but every line, shadow, expression, font and blank space has clearly been meticulously chosen, its a beautiful minimalist design.

"hapiness is accepting that sadness will always exist and then decidimg to be hapy anyway"

That was the most delightfully depressing thing i've read since [b:The City of Dreadful Night|2149363|The City of Dreadful Night|James Thomson|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1347688807l/2149363._SX50_.jpg|2154856] . And the most wickedly dark comedy i've experienced since the Portal games.
I received this as a gift on the basis that 'it looked a bit weird, thought you might like it' . Well it was and i loved it.

Its drawn as if its a kids book or worse an internet cartoon but it turns out instead thats it Art. It is its totally Art, profound and thought provoking, and occasionally a wee bit pretentious as Art can be at times. I've really never seen anyone get so much out of so little. The story is about art itself and happiness and life and love and... probably a bunch of other stuff.

The only complaints i have is that it was on occasion so profound as to border on nonsensical, like buddist sayings, you know metaphysical sort of stuff. The other minor quibble is probably more my issue than the authors as i have a very linear mind and like to know where the starts and stops are. In this some thoughts would cover a page, others might run for several. So i might start reading another page find it was about something completely different and then be like 'wait darn it i havn't processed the last amazing thing you said'.

Very, very minor issues, highly recommended for anyone who thinks :) . ( )

Simple and endearing in presentation but extraordinarily profound. I started crying about halfway through and continued to past the ending but laughed through the tears as well. Absolutely perfect. ( )

An alien (Jomny), lands on Earth, ostensibly to study humans, but ends up meeting all sorts of animals, such as a snail, a tree, bees, a bear, a beaver, otters, etc., even an egg, who teach important life lessons. The characters and graphics are cute, and it's a quick read with a low-key art style and short, but meaningful conversations. Supposedly, the author had to provide a list of his intended typos from his accidental ones.

Here are a few descriptors for this book:

• weird
• full of heart
• lots of quips to remember
• bizarre humor and ideas
• simultaneously profound and ridiculous
• existential, irreverent, and adorable

Personally, I would have preferred some color, but that's nitpicking. 3.5 stars. ( )
