SUMMARY: Each day, Papa duck goes out with his ducklings but on Monday only four come back, on Tuesday only three come back, until Saturday when there are no ducks left...until he calls and they all return safely home.

REVIEW: Similar to the song "Six Little Ducks" but this is in shorter format, contains the days of the week, and features Papa Duck instead of Mama. While it was an OK story, I found it a little lacking. The illustrations are beautiful but a little muted and same coloring that make it a little hard to discern specific details (like finding lost ducks). Did anyone else find it disconcerting that Papa Ducks is not more upset when a little duck goes missing each day.

There are other animals in the book that take the spotlight as the little ducks wander through that give a chance at animal identification for the reader. There is also a frog that can be seen in most of the illustrations. The last two pages identify the other animals in the book but the descriptions didn't really add anything to the overall book. ( )
