Written for children but I love this series in my 60s. I have read over 10 at this writing. I intend to read all 20 or so.I enjoy the dragon's perspective. Very relaxing during this pandemic (2021). ( )

Man, I keep going back and forth between 2 and 3. Its okay, with some really fantastic moments and really boring moments.

Turtle has a definite arc, but spends most of the book sneaking around, being unobtrusive and literally unable to interact with the antagonist. A protagonist that doesn't do a lot of protagging.

I really do dig Darkstalker as a villain - he's well-fleshed out and believable. Wonderfully insidious. Anemone's arc is also well done - you are horrified by her but also pity her, and a part of you knows that if you were a 10yo with animus powers you'd be doing the same exact thing as her. The
animus battle
at the end was great!

I miss the self-contained stories from the first set of dragonets, though. This book can't stand on its own and ends with a cliffhanger final chapter and very disconnected epilogue. ( )

In this book Dark Stalker has awakened from a 2,000 year slumber. His legacy was misinterpreted and he was not what society portrayed him to be. Turtle is deathly scared of Dark Stalker and because of his fear, he creates a spell to hide himself from him. He then goes to the Academy for help from the Council. While Turtle is at the Academy, Dark Stalker is also there researching his past at the Academy's library. He is in search of filling in the gaps of his memory. Dark Stalker then has an encounter with the other Night Wing students'. They attempt to attack him but it is useless against his indestructible skills. After they attack him, Dark Stalker forgives the students and to show his forgiveness he grants the night wing students powers. Dark Stalker then announces that he will be journeying to the rain forest to meet with The Queen of Rain Wings and Night Wings. His intentions are to win over all the Night Wings to become Night Wing King.

This is a good book with many twists and turns. There's a great plot and every character is well rounded. Because of the in-depth description of the characters, I felt like I knew each of them persoanlly and I could understand the emotions the characters were feeling. There is also a good balance of serious and fun woven throughout the book. The author also does a great job of giving readers a mental image of every scene. I would highly recommend this book to all of my friends! ( )

The whole series is super cute! I like how each dragon is a different person and has a unique voice. This means, however, that you don't actually like all of them. ( )

Turtle would rather stay in school than run off to have adventures. He would rather pretend to be powerless than let anyone find out he is an animus dragon and start expecting great things from him.

But when Darkstalker escapes his prison and enchants everyone into liking and trusting him, Turtle is the only one who is immune to his magic. He is the only who can see what Darkstalker is doing. Therefore, Turtle, the dragon who hates adventures and responsibilities, is the only one who can stop Darkstalker from taking over the world. ( )
