Homicide detective Lana Denae has been allowed to work without a partner since her mentor died a few years ago. She's assigned the case of an older woman mysteriously shot inside her locked apartment. After a time, she comes to realize that her case and the case of people jumping off a nearby bridge are connected, so she ends up partnering with the two detectives that were assigned that case.

I'm glad the author had her partner up with someone as a whole book of Lana ruminating about lessons learned at her mentor's knee might have been a bit much. Damien's and Jamie's bickering was just enough to set the tone, but not so much that it became overly annoying. There were parts of the story that I didn't feel were as fleshed out as they could have been, but I am hoping that as the author settles into writing this series, that will become less. I did not guess the identity of the murderer until it was revealed. ( )
