This book in a word-- Meh. I've been wanting to read this since it came out & it was supremely disappointing. I usually love books that show the dark side of love, & I think it's important for teens to know what controlling/abusive behavior looks like. But the writing was... not great. The dialogue made me cringe-- so much teen talk!! And then there was a romance to get over the bad romance, which is my ultimate NO of all NO's. ( )

I agree with the reviews that this book addresses an important subject (teenage girls being manipulated sexually, emotionally and mentally by their boyfriends) but I think the treatment of the subject is too mature for some high school libraries. For a public library, I would definitely recommend the purchase. The characters are well drawn and realistic and is the plot. ( )

As an adult I found this book extremely frustrating. Zephyr's behaviour was predictable as she fell for the charming Alex, and most of the time all I wanted to do was shake her until she realised how manipulative Alex actually was and how dangerous it was to enter into a relationship with him. However, working with teenage girls on a daily basis, I know how easily this can happen - a cute guy, the need to feel loved and bam there's a connection and it 'must be love.'

The author has shown how easy it is for a girl to fall for a smooth-talking boy, and how difficult it is for that girl to see the dangers as she is blinded by her heightened emotions. Therefore, "The Girl Who Fell" has an important story to tell and should be read by all teenage girls. ( )

Before I start saying anything about this AMAZING book, you should know that even before I started reading it, I was already in love with it, it was real love at first sight! I live in Italy, and unfortunately this beauty has not been published yet here, but I am sure it will be very soon, because you don't read a perfect book like this one very often!
Reading this book is a like reading a poem, the finest one.
Shannon M. Parker is such a talented author, her writing style is absolutely magnificent.
I thought I was going to read a YA but at the same time I found so many genres in this book, such as dark romance, romance suspense, psychological thriller and I could not be happier than this!
The Girl Who Fell is a shocking, compelling and above all is a real story.
When I was reading this MASTERPIECE (because it IS a masterpiece), I had to remind myself that I wasn't Zephyr and I wasn't experiencing those terrible feelings and situations.
In so many parts of the book I totally forgot to breath and I had to put the book down for a minute to put my thoughts in order and I think, after more than one week, I am still trying to recover from this spectacular read.
I think some of us can identify in the High school senior Zephyr Doyle; she is a lovely girl, an amazing athlete, she has excellent grades and a bright future ahead.
But something happened, Alec happened.
Every young love is amazing at first, and this was the case for Zephyr and Alec, but when your "love" tries to destroy your dreams, your future and tries to push away your friends and all the people who loves you, well, that is not love. That is a real living nightmare.
Of course, at first Zephyr could not understand that the relationship with Alec was sick, twisted and dark. And in some ways I can understand why she continued to forgive him and why she couldn't see the monster that was in front of her. In fact as I said before, these things happen and as a matter of fact it's very difficult to escape from a difficult situation like this, but I am sure everybody can do it. You just need to realize that what you feel it's not love, but it is fear and ask for help.
Shannon Parker's book was able to terrify me and at the same time give me hope and strength for Zephyr. I consider Zephyr one of my friend who needs help and I want to give it to her so bad!
Shannon P writing style is absolutely STUNNING. I cannot believe that someone can write such a beautiful, heart wrenching, raw, honest and full of hope story.
I wish with all my heart that the Italian publishers will translate and publish this masterpiece in Italy as soon as possible. I can't wait to read something else from the amazingly talented Shannon Parker! Thank you so much for this story Shannon, I will keep it in my heart forever! ( )
