Water dominates the surface of Earth and is vital to life on our planet. It is a remarkable liquid which shows anomalous behaviour. In this book, John Finney introduces the science of water, and explores how the structure of water molecules gives rise to its physical and chemical properties. Considering water in all three of its states as ice and steam as well as liquid, Finney explains the great importance of an understanding of itsstructure and behaviour to a range of fields including chemistry, astrophysics, and earth and environmental sciences.… (mere)

If you want to get a brief understanding of the technical aspects of water, its molecular structure, and the famous hydrogen bonds, this is the book for you.

Water, at its molecular level, is fascinating. Bear in mind this is not an easy book to read. Yet, if you persist, you will be rewarded.

Since it is a very short introduction, John Finney has focused on the scientific aspects of water. You can call it, the physics of water. It does not cover the role water plays in our lives.

If you want to read about that, look elsewhere. this is not a book for someone with almost no scientific background, so be warned! ( )
