Forever Evil: Rogues Rebellion Author: Brian Buccellato, Scott Hepburn, Patrick Zircher, Andre Coelho Publisher: DC Comics Published In: New York, NY Date: 2014 Pgs: 160 REVIEW MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS Summary: Captain Cold and the Rogues are between a rock and a hard place. Fall in line or risk certain death at the hands of the Crime Syndicate and their Secret Society. Examples are being made. And these types of examples don’t survive. Genre: Comics and graphic novels Fiction Superheroes Why this book: It’s the Flash’s Rogues Gallery. I love those guys. ______________________________________________________________________________ Favorite Character: Captain Cold. I know he’s a bad guy. He’s been a favorite bad guy of mine for a long time. The whole code of honor even when you are an evil bastard appeals to me. Least Favorite Character: The Trickster. My Trickster is Jesse James not Axel. I tried to like Axel. I just can’t. He’s hard to trust...even when the whole crew is full of untrustworthy characters. The Feel: This has a great “Us against the World” feel to it. Favorite Scene: When the Rogues have the enemy of my enemy is my friend moment with the Central City and Keystone Police Departments. The woman walking alone at night in Gotham with her two kids and the two guys come out to accost her. And they make a gigantic mistake. Trickster and Weather Wizard doing the Speed bus jump in an armored paddy wagon. Pacing: The pace is good, flows well. Really glad I didn’t read this as it was coming out monthly. Plot Holes/Out of Character: There are some gaps that I’m guessing are part and parcel of the Forever Evil crossover. Parts of the story take place in other books. Wish Pied Piper played a bigger part. Nice that he got a hero turn though. Hmm Moments: The giveaway moment when you see those two guys wandering in the fog over Captain Cold’s shoulder from where he is communicating from inside the Mirror World. I knew who they were the second I saw them. Love the ending. “We are the Rogues of Central City.” Nice. Why isn’t there a screenplay? Not sure that this would translate to the big screen with all the plethora of characters and the big background that would have to go into it to make it make sense. Casting call: Wentworth Miller is great as Captain Cold in the Flash television series. But I want Captain Cold in something closer to his original uniform. I loved that blue parka. ______________________________________________________________________________ Last Page Sound: Nice hero turn. Author Assessment: Would read more stuff by this creative team. Editorial Assessment: Wish it wasn’t just a piece of the story, but it was great. Knee Jerk Reaction: glad I read it Disposition of Book: Irving Public Library Irving, TX Dewey Decimal System: 741.5973 ROG Would recommend to: genre fans ______________________________________________________________________________ Errata: ingen anmeldelser | tilføj en anmeldelse
