Veteran comedian Artie Lange turns an unflinching eye and his signature wit on his perilous descent into drug addiction, life-threatening depression, and ultimately, his recovery, in the follow-up to his hilariously raw debut, the #1 New York Times bestseller Too Fat to Fish. At a high point in his career, Artie Lange played a sold-out show in Carnegie Hall and totally killed--yet during his standing ovation, all he could think of were the two bags of heroin in his pocket. In the midst of a deep, self-destructive depression, addicted to heroin and prescription drugs, he lashed out at everyone around him--from his fellow cast members on The Howard Stern Show, to celebrity guests, to his longtime friends, and even his own family. By turns dark and disturbing, hilarious and heartbreaking, and always drop-dead honest, the New York Times bestseller Crash and Burn lifts the curtain on Lange's dangerous slide. For the first time, Artie reveals all: the full truth behind his now legendary Stern Show meltdown, his suicide attempt (which he relates in terrifying detail), surprising stints in rehab, and painful relapses. With the help and support of friends and family, Artie claws his way back, turning his life and career around. And despite his slip-ups, backslides, and permanent losses, Artie forges on.… (mere)

I heard "This Is Not Happening" clip with Artie Lange became curious about him. (Obviously, I am not a fan of the Howard Stern show.) My research led me to "Crash and Burn."

I am an addict as well but fortunately didn't go down Artie's route. I remember falling asleep during conversations at work, driving, but not being able to sleep at night. I still can't sleep at night.

At the very end of the book, he says an addict craves chaos. That smacked me upside the head. Chaos described my twenties and thirties, even though I was Oxys for less than two years, maybe even one. One of my daughters who has had addiction problems leads a chaotic life. I am aware of how addiction plays a role in my life and my life is calm now.

I thank Artie for opening up and writing "Crash and Burn." I hope he and his family are doing well. One day at a time, Artie. Sometimes, one minute at a time. ( )

A sad tale of drug use and its consequences. I don't know what to think after reading this book. Lange knows he is a fuck up and will fuck up the best things in his life,tv shows, relationships, and supposedly his dream gig. Yet he does nothing to figure out how to stop till it is too late. He has what many people do not have money and fame and still pisses it all away. It is sad to see the things that Lange pissed away. Supposedly it was what he claims was dear to him, yet he consistently screws it up. ( )

If you are a fan of Artie Lange, you probably would like this book. I saw him on a talk show and found him very funny and interesting. I realized his life was no bed of roses, but expected a bit more humor. It got a bit boring at times, hearing about the unbelievable amounts of heroin and pills, he ingested. A smaller man would not have survived. It is even amazing that he did. Hopefully someone will read the book and it will save their life. Artie has come through hell, hopefully he will continue to conquer his demons. ( )
