This is the first I've read, but won't be the last. The conciseness meets the expectation set by the title. The tone is engaging, sometimes even sarcastic, while remaining objective. Locke lived in interesting times. He was at times on the wrong side of the shifting political and religous swings in 17th century England. Locke's ideas became fundamental concepts in the first consititutions. ingen anmeldelser | tilføj en anmeldelse

I'd heard of Locke, knew he was an English philosopher way-back-when, but that's about it. This little book (43p) helps you put a person to the name. It's a little biography - growing up in the Civil War, seeing the ramifications of its excesses, plus a deep interest in science, created the rational, logical empiricism that characterizeds his work.
This won't turn you into a philosophy expert but gives you a grounding, in a very readable, accessible way. Few pages of quotes from Locke's works at back.
Excellent introduction. ( )
