Fiction. Romance. Suspense. HTML:

Libby Morgan never wanted to return to Lancaster County. She'd made her own life in the city as a news photographer, leaving the slow pace of Amish country behind. She'd left love behind, too, when she fled the old-fashioned ways of Adam Byler. But when a friend in trouble beckons, Libby knows she has no choice. What she doesn't know is that something sinister awaits her....

For Adam Byler, the traditional ways convey safety and order. As police chief of Springville, the former marine strives to keep the peace between the Amish and their modern "Englischer" neighbors--and he will not allow Libby's beauty to distract him from his duties. But when an innocent woman is attacked, they'll confront a danger more threatening than their growing passion.

Libby Morgan has returned to Springville without a job and no immediate plans except to see her best friend Esther, an Amish girl. But before she can see her, Esther is involved in a buggy accident and hurt badly. Libby is convinced that this was no accident and that Esther's life is still in danger. With the help of sheriff Adam Byler (Libby's girlhood crush) Libby is determined to keep Esther safe by finding the person who attacked her.

I really like this series. I love a good Amish mystery. This one had a bit more mystery and less romance than the others in the series. I really like the Morgan family and the other folks of Springville both Amish and English. ( )

“Danger in Plain Sight” by Marta Perry was a wonderful Amish mystery. I enjoy Amish stories anyway and this was a double treat because it was also a suspenseful story. I really liked all of the main characters in the novel; they were so likable. I was into the story from the first paragraph. It was a great lead in and I was hooked. Libby Morgan is in town for her brother’s wedding and to possible move back home because she quit her job. Her dear Amish friend Esther has written that she needs to speak with her and Libby is concerned that something is wrong. Libby can’t wait to meet with Esther and is planning to do just that as soon as the wedding is over and guests leave. She is too late, however, as Esther’s horse and buggy has been hit on the road by a hit-and-run driver. Esther is in critical condition with a head injury and cannot tell Libby what has had her so upset. Adam Byler is the sheriff of Lancaster County and is friends with the Morgan family. Libby is in love with Adam, but he is resisting her because of some idea that he is not good enough for Libby.

With this background in mind, Esther’s deliberate buggy crash is being investigated by Adam. Libby has information that could shed light on who might have been the cause of the accident. As Esther is recovering, other incidents are occurring that indicate that she is still in danger. Libby, as a result of her friendship with Esther, is also in danger. During this investigation, Libby and Adam come to realize how much they mean to each other.

This was a real page-turner. I read this novel in two days (and I work full-time). It was easy to read and I was so motivated to find out who the culprits were that I could not put the book down.

I received a free Kindle copy of this book in return for my honest review.

Good book with quality female leads. The character was strong and she made it clear that family was as important as truth and love. ( )
