Wow. Loved it. Lots of Jake and Ellie kind of trouble, and plenty of peril for everyone. I really liked who came to the rescue here. It was an excellent addition to the series. I think it might even be the best one in the series, which is saying a lot because I think it's a solid series.

The one think I was unsure of was how much time had passed in between Knockdown and this one. It's obvious, from comments made by the characters that there has been at least a couple of years. I think I need to go back and reread Knockdown. ( )

Jake is now married in book fifteen of the home repair series. This time the home repairer finds her past life as a police officer causing more problems than the cottage under renovation. As with all books in the series, someone dies, lives are upset, and houses get fixed. ( )

You have to feel a little sorry for Jake Tiptree - she bounces from one near-death experience to the next! Still, watching her and Ellie put their survivor skills and smarts to work is a pleasure. Sam plays a big part in this novel, which is a nice change. ( )

This one is a page turner. The family of Jake Tiptree all face dangers and trials. Jake and her friend Ellie are at their summer cabin when they are attacked by an escaped convict who mistakes Ellie for his murdered ex-wife. Her father and his wife decide to check on Jake and are involved in a deer-auto accident which leaves them severely injured. Jakes son Sam gets involved with a pair of con artists and is on the verge of drinking again. Her husband Wade ends up being shot by the escaped convict. And all of them are visited by the ghost of Jakes's deceased ex-husband. I couldn't put it down. ( )
