This is a fun book for older elementary, this story is about a little boy who gets a tadpole but he doesn’t just turn into a regular tadpole or frog. It is a fun book to read with your students. ( )

A wonderfully delightful story of a boy who gets a tadpole for his birthday, that turns out to be no ordinary tadpole!

This book would work best with younger kids. It has bright and colorful illustrations along with cute characters that the younger kids would find interesting. It would go along with a lesson about problem and solution. Louis has a problem, his tadpole is growing to be too big and he works to find a solution. An extension to follow this would be to have them partner up with the person next to them and discuss other ways Louis could have solved his problem. Then they must explain their solutions to the class and justify why their solutions are plausible. Another example of a lesson to go along with this book would be to have students analyze the point of view of the different characters in the story. This would be done in a 5th or 6th grade class. After reading the book, I would give each student graphic organizer where they must fill out the point of view of each character in the story and why their perspective is signifiicant.
