He was so honest that is boss put a wager on him and his ability to tell the truth no matter what. This bet was unknown to him. His boss, Don Ignacio, was the man putting on the wager against another rancher named Dan Arturo. Whoever lost the bet had to give his ranch to the winner. Don Arturo schemed a way to make Jaun Verdades lie. Juan used skillful imagination to not lie. Juan stayed true to his word and did not lie and won over the love of Araceli, Don Arturo’s daughter. After he won the bet, Don Ignacio signed over his ranch ti Juan and he Married Araceli. This was a great story that had a deeper meaning within the story. The story being told made it an interesting read and the moral of the story, not lying, is told in a way that helps children better understand that good things happen to people who tell the truth and do not lie. The pictures also were very colorful and helped portray the story. Good book to teach students the value of telling the truth no matter what. A traditional tale about a honest servant. On a ranch owned by don Ignacio, an apple tree flourishes under the conscientious care of the foreman, Juan Verdades, who reports daily to the rancher on the condition of his beloved tree. When a fellow rancher, don Arturo, boasts that he can make Juan tell a lie, don Ignacio replies, 'I'll bet my ranch against yours that you can't make my foreman lie to me.' Using his daughter as a pawn, don Arturo hatches a plot to win the bet, but things don't go quite as he anticipated. ingen anmeldelser | tilføj en anmeldelse
