This is a cute book for preschool children. The book has the sweet funny things that grand parents like to do for their grand children. ( )

The Grandpa Book by Todd Parr is filled with bright and colorful pages. It is all about grandpas; where they live, what they do and the ways they make us laugh.

Grandpas are important in our family. My children were very close to theirs. They lost him to cancer two years ago. I read this book to them and they enjoyed comparing their grandpa to the ones in the book.

I would read this story in class during the study of the family tree. The children could write a book about their grandpas. For younger children I would make up a fill in the blank book about grandpas. I would also like the children to write letters to their grandpas, telling them all about the ways they touch our lives.

This whimsical and fun book by Todd Parr is all about the different kinds of grandpas. The silly nature of this book hides a serious message of acceptance for the ways in which grandpas are different, including grandpas who talk too loud and grandpas who ride in wheelchairs.

There’s also a place inside the back cover for you to put a picture of your grandpa. The simple text and line drawings make this book appropriate for young children, but Parr’s signature humor and bright, funky colors make it a fun book for older kids as well. Review by Book Dads ( )

This book is dedicated to my Grandpa Parr, who wasn't around long enough. Thanks for helping me draw.

And to my Grandpa Logan, who taught me how to fish and plant a garden. Thanks for forgiving me for all those soda cans I used to stuff under the cushion of your favorite chair.

Love, Todd
