Loved this sequel as much as the first! Can't wait to start the third installment.

I was given this book in exchange for an honest review via LibraryThing. ( )

This is a LTMGA book in exchange of an honest review.
It's the second book of the Great Horse Trilogy and Meagan continues her journey across history.
I was fascinated from the figures the horses made in Meagan "French period", the author described them so well it made me want to try with my horse (a big, calm bordering to lazy piebald. But he can jump).
I enjoyed the way Meagan has to go with the costumes of the times in which she found herself and the horses behavior became more definite and, for me, more enjoyable to read.
Absolutely worth the reading. ( )

Not having read the first book, I was leary about reading the second and not being able to "get in" to the story. Honestly I would love to read the first only because it is the beginning. Even though this was not a stand alone novel I had no problem enjoying and following the story of 16 year old Meagan's adventures through time and historic events. If you like horses in any way then read this series. I not only enjoyed the story but liked the horse facts throught out. I can not wait to read the third part to the series. It was a nice way to spend an afternoon in the sun. ( )

This is the story of 16 year old Meagan Roberts and her adventures as she follows the Great Horse through time. The Golden Spark takes us from Mexico in 1519 to France in 1666 and finally to England in 1816. In each setting, Megan lives and works closely with horses, always trying to find the Great Horse so that one day she can return home. This book does an excellent job of teaching the reader about how horses were trained, treated, and what they were used for in each of the historical time periods Meagan goes to. My only criticism is that it was hard to get a good sense of how Megan ended up traveling through history. A brief recap at the beginning of the book would have been helpful. Aside from that, this story is engaging and Megan's character is well developed. This book is recommended for those who like to read about horses, adventure, or history. ( )

Second book I have read from this author in this series. A very interesting read with a lot of history in a time travel scenario. Great continuation from the first book. If you like history of horses, this is a very good book to read. ( )
