A short graphic novel developed for beginner readers and first graphic novel readers. The book begins with a short description, including pictures, of how to read a graphic novel. The author includes how to read through the panels and incorporate the text provided with the dialogue and illustrations in the panels. The back of the book also includes bios about the author and illustrator, a glossary, discussion questions and writing prompts. The book does an excellent job of showing how readers can begin reading graphic novels as well as presenting it in a way that they can understand and use as a stepping stone to more advanced graphic novels. The story is about Ben who is looking up in the attic for something (not known until the end), but is spooked by the shapes, lack of light and sounds and is trying to keep his sister in the dark about his intentions in the attic. Young readers would most likely enjoy reading a short mystery that ends well for the character. ( )
