About My Library
Our Image Resource Center focuses on resources for teaching in the Department of Art and Art History. We provide and facilitate visual materials – both real and virtual – to department faculty and graduate teaching assistants in support of their courses. Among our resources are over 4,200 digital images of works of art and architecture, and more than 80,000 35mm slides. We have collections of videos and DVDs, books, and journals having to do with the visual arts and artists. We also have a growing collection of photographs and ephemera related to the history of the department since the mid-1940s.

In 2016 and 2017, noted Asian art collector Dr. William T. Price gifted part of his vast collection of books, periodicals, and fine art magazines to The University of Alabama. With the assistance of the College of Arts and Sciences, the department established the Dr. and Mrs. William T. Price Asian Art Book Collection in Garland Hall, consisting of more than 2,000 items.
About Me
The Department of Art and Art History at The University of Alabama provides an innovative, energetic, and interdisciplinary learning environment that focuses on academic excellence in the areas of art history and studio art. We provide specialized education for majors and minors with our department, as well as offer general enrichment to students working within the broader context of a university-wide liberal arts curriculum. Our introductory-level courses aim at developing in students a lifelong appreciation for the visual arts from a global perspective. Our upper-level curriculum continues this goal while also preparing students for graduate study or for positions within the art world, including museum administration, publishing, communication arts, and design.
