John C.H.Wu was a a man of immense learning
ranging from law, through eastern and western
relgious thought,he was Catholic but learned in the
Buddhist and Confucian worlds also, and to the
whole range of art and literature. Here he discusses
the Tang poets Li Po,Tu Fu, Wang Wei and the others
with not only learning but a humanity and one could
say sweetness which make this an immesely
satisfying book.
