Very clichéed and lots of stereotypes, but the book does a decent job at what it is trying to do.
Honestly, sacrifices in the shape of a pentagram? Really? This trope was old and tired 20 years ago already. For this alone, I should subtract a star but that would be petty.
Basically, nothing that is mentioned in the blurb is actually answered in this book. It's only a kind of introduction and only the sub-plot about the killed demons has a conclusion. Everything else is left completely unresolved.
This means that to properly judge this book you kind of have to read the second one too at least, but there is no audiobook for it (yet) (edit: there now is.) so I can't really say too much overall.
The plot is very formulaic and so is the romance. The MC is utterly clueless about the romance part.
But it's decently written so I successfully wasted a few hours without regrets.… (mere)
